Learn to draw using digital tools in San Diego! This 3-session series is a beginner friendly drawing class where students use Krita and Blender Version 2.8 Beta, specifically focusing on the workflows of a professional Concept Artist. Students do not need any computer experience, but should have an interest in drawing and designing props and characters.
Practice anatomy while adding fantasy elements
Concept artists often create new ideas by blending together characteristics of animals and plants. Practice drawing hands and other aspects of the human figure, then take it a few steps further!
Use a drawing tablet and stylus
Getting acquainted with proper tools is a major focus at FX Dojo; that means learning to use a drawing tablet and the buttons of a stylus pen. The lower button is mapped to the middle mouse button, and the top one is right click.
Concept art is about blending attributes to create new ideas
When a concept artist is hired for ideas, they are expected to produce a wide array of choices with slight variations in details. This class will give students an opportunity to design and also discuss why certain creative decisions were made.
Learn to communicate through drawing facial expressions
Different types of cartoon characters have different ways of expressing themselves. Learn to convey emotion through various styles of eyes and other facial features.
This class is taught by a team of multimedia artists
FX Dojo is committed to combining art and technology in a well-rounded educational environment. This Concept Art class will have at least three teachers present for each class. All teachers are well versed in traditional and digital art, in order to provide students with relevant support inside and outside the classroom.
FX Dojo is located in Liberty Station, San Diego. Click HERE for detailed directions. I hope to see you in class soon!
