FX Dojo was established in 2012 to evolve 3D education and promote a healthy relationship with digital tools.

DEDICATED TO SHARING KNOWLEDGE

Otto Lai began his professional career in New York as a modeler on MTV’s Celebrity Death Match and then as an animator on Nickelodeon’s Little Bill. Since moving to California, he joined Legend 3D to work on Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland, and as Head Compositing Trainer helped prepare over 200 artists for Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon, Smurfs, Shrek 1,2,3 and other titles. With over 10 years of teaching experience, Otto co-founded the Visual Effects and Compositing Program at Platt College in 2010. He has also taught at San Diego State University, MiraCosta Community College, Fleet Science Center, and Coronado High School. Otto received his BFA in Film & Television from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and Master of Science in Digital Imaging and Design from NYU Center for Advanced Digital Applications. He currently resides in Oakland, California.
