Use this Class as an Introduction to Unity Game Engine
A video game engine is essential for compiling 3D models, environments, and animation into an interactive experience. Artists can market themselves exponentially with Game Engine skills, as many companies entering the Virtual Reality and Immersive Tech Sector are seeking artists with experience with Unreal Engine, Unity, and other Game Engines.
Start with a Base Mesh in Blender
This class will clarify and explain all necessary steps that can be repeated with other kinds of models in future iterations. In this introductory class, students can try importing their own 3D models, but premade base meshes that are guaranteed to work, will also be provided. The rig type must be set to "Humanoid".
Import, Configure, and Add Component
Configuring the model is where extra accessories and details can be added; for example, some characters have pointy "cat ears" which have different bone placement. One of the final steps is to "Add Component" which allows you to set up the VRC Avatar Descriptor.
Meet teacher Axel (he/him)
Axel is a concept artist who is well versed in 2D and 3D animation. He specializes in facilitating engaging online experiences for artists of all levels.
