Meaning “crayon” in Swedish, Krita beautifully emulates traditional mediums like charcoal, painting, and much more. After continuously hitting their Kickstarter goals every year, Krita has become the dominant free alternative to Adobe Photoshop and Painter. Students will practice drawing exercises as well as learn about pixels and photo manipulation with this open source favorite.

      Pen Pressure makes a difference!

After introducing the program and interface, students should get a feel for the pen and pressure. Learning to vary line thickness will help in overall drawing control.

      Drawing Heads and Faces

It is important to draw from reference as well as from memory. Students will do both while practicing perspective and proportion.

      Static vs Active Posing

Posing is a crucial part of convey emotion. Learn how to best communicate your story through body positioning and camera angles.

      Identify anatomy

Stick figures are an excellent way to introduce joints because of the simple lines. Learning about human anatomy can also lead to discussions about animal anatomy and possibly hybrids.

      Convey emotion with eyes

Variation in eyes adds personality and a sense of life to your drawings. Highlights, lashes, and other details will be covered to best represent your original character!
